about

IMG_1762.JPG

I am interested in subjects focused on the natural as well as the built-up, man-made environment. Influenced by my architectural education and experience, I look for subjects expressing distinctive design, featuring contrasts of light and dark, color interaction and contrasting patterns and shapes.  I am constantly looking for new ways that light expresses the character and mood of a featured place or scene.

I enjoy drawing and painting buildings and scenes from the historic areas in my hometown of St. Louis, and from my travels in the USA and Europe.  Painting mostly from subjects I have photographed, I use oils, acrylics or water color depending on the subject.

I have been drawing and painting since I was in grade school.  After I retired as an architect, I joined a group of artists and began taking Advanced Painting classes at St. Louis Community College/Forest Park and was encouraged by my instructors to continue.
